We are all really excited about Gyan Riley’s visit to The Dock on Friday, a couple of months before he headlines at Carnegie Hall, New York. He is kicking off his Irish tour with the Gyan Riley Jazz Trio right here in Carrick on Shannon. As well as being an amazing composer Gyan plays a mean guitar and we are looking forward to hearing impeccable chops and razor-sharp articulation.

He will be joined by violinist/violist Timb Harris, best known for his electrifying shows with the Middle Eastern rock band Secret Chiefs 3, and drummer Ches Smith, a stalwart of the New York cutting edge music scene who’s performed with a wide range of experimental rock and jazz ensembles including Marc Ribot and Beat Circus.

See Music Network for his tour dates.

The you tube clip shows Gyan playing Bachs Chacone but expect a more energetic performance on Friday with plenty of world music, jazz and flamenco influcences.
